A Report by CYS Global Remit Office Facilities Management Unit
In today's fast-paced work environment, having a kitchen and dining area in the office is more than a convenience—it's a cornerstone of community. At CYS, this belief has shaped our journey from a modest beginning to a thriving workplace culture centered around food and fellowship.
From Humble Beginnings
Our story began in a small unit at Shenton House, where a simple kitchen setup served as the heart of our office. It wasn't just a place to prepare meals; it was where ideas were exchanged, friendships were formed, and the aroma of home-cooked dishes brought comfort to busy days. That single stove and modest counter space became the gathering point that defined our early culture.
Growing Together
As our team grew, so did our need for space. We expanded to three units within Shenton House, allowing us to enhance our kitchen facilities and create a dedicated dining area. This expansion transformed lunch breaks into shared experiences, fostering collaboration and camaraderie among colleagues. What started as necessity became intentional design—we weren't just adding square footage, we were investing in connection.
A New Chapter at GB Building
The next chapter of our journey took us to GB Building, where we now occupy an entire unit on the 26th floor. With sweeping views of the city, our kitchen and dining area have evolved into a vibrant hub of activity. It's a place where team members gather not only to eat but to connect, celebrate milestones, and recharge. The space reflects how far we've come whilst staying true to what mattered from day one: bringing people together.
Why It Matters
Having a kitchen and dining space in the office has proven invaluable. It promotes healthier eating habits, reduces stress, and strengthens workplace relationships. At CYS, it reflects our commitment to creating a supportive and inclusive environment—one meal at a time. These aren't just perks; they're investments in wellbeing and culture that pay dividends in team cohesion and job satisfaction.
From a single stove in Shenton House to a full-floor facility in GB Building, our kitchen journey is a testament to growth, unity, and the simple joy of sharing food. It's proof that the best workplace innovations often revolve around the most fundamental human need: coming together over a meal.
