First-Time Experience Making Shanghai Pan-Fried Pork Buns at CYS

A Report by CYS Global Remit Office Facilities Management Unit

At CYS, we recently embarked on a delightful culinary adventure: making Shanghai pan-fried pork buns for the first time. Known for their crispy bottoms and juicy pork filling, these buns are a beloved staple in Shanghai cuisine. Our team was excited to try their hands at crafting these delicious treats from scratch.

From Dough to Delicious

The experience began with preparing the dough and marinating the pork filling. Guided by a simple recipe, our staff rolled up their sleeves and got to work. Laughter and chatter filled the room as everyone took turns kneading, shaping, and stuffing the buns. The process was both fun and educational, offering a hands-on glimpse into traditional Chinese cooking techniques.

Once the buns were assembled, they were pan-fried to golden perfection. The aroma of sizzling pork and dough wafted through the air, building anticipation. When the buns were finally ready, everyone gathered to enjoy the fruits of their labour. The crispy bottoms, tender wrappers, and savoury filling were met with enthusiastic approval.

More Than Just Cooking

It was more than just a cooking session—it was a bonding experience that brought our team closer together. Sharing food that we made ourselves created a sense of pride and camaraderie. The success of our first attempt has inspired us to plan more culinary activities in the future.

At CYS, we believe in creating joyful and memorable experiences for our staff, and our Shanghai pan-fried pork bun day was a perfect example of that spirit.
