A Taste of France at CYS: From Learning Journey to Staff Favourite
A Report by CYS Global Remit Office Facilities Management Unit
The French flag proudly symbolises the culinary inspiration behind this special menu, created and prepared by the CYS team.
A Kitchen for Creativity
At CYS, the kitchen has become more than just a place to prepare meals — it's evolved into a space for creativity, learning, and teamwork. Recently, our staff embarked on an exciting culinary journey, learning to cook classic French cuisine and creating a special French menu that has quickly become a firm favourite around the office.
One glance at the beautifully presented dishes is enough to appreciate the effort behind them.
The Menu
Starter: Creamy French-Style Soup
Rich, velvety, and comforting, served with toasted bread. Warm, satisfying, and full of flavour, it set the stage perfectly for what followed.
Main: Braised Meat and Fried Fish Fillet
Tender braised meat, slow-cooked until meltingly soft and served with a savoury sauce, alongside smooth mashed potatoes and crisp green beans.
Adding a delightful contrast was a perfectly fried fish fillet with a hint of lemon and a creamy sauce — the balance of textures and flavours showcasing the attention to detail French cuisine is famous for.
Dessert: Classic Mille-Feuille
Delicate layers of crisp pastry and creamy filling, lightly dusted with icing sugar, brought the meal to a perfect sweet close. Every bite reflected patience, precision, and the artistry of French pastry-making.
The Learning Journey
What makes this achievement even more special is that every dish was prepared in our own CYS office, following dedicated learning and practice. Staff members embraced the challenge of mastering new cooking techniques, understanding unfamiliar ingredients, and appreciating the traditions behind French cuisine. The experience didn't just sharpen culinary skills — it strengthened teamwork and collaboration across the team.
A Firm Favourite Among Staff
The response from staff has been overwhelmingly positive and thoroughly rewarding. Many have praised the menu for its authentic flavours, attractive presentation, and restaurant-quality experience.
This French culinary initiative proves that with passion, learning, and teamwork, remarkable results are within reach. More importantly, it has brought colleagues together through the universal language of good food — creating memorable dining experiences that everyone is already looking forward to enjoying again.
