Mental Wellness – Self-Care Practices

A Report by CYS Global Remit Human Resource Management Unit

For this week's Mental Wellness session, we'll continue to explore how a balanced mind, body, and soul positively impact individuals and the self-care routines practiced by our CYS Global Remit employees to maintain their holistic health.

Nurturing your mind, body, and soul is crucial for overall well-being and a fulfilling life. By integrating self-care habits into daily routines, profound improvements can be made in mental, physical, and spiritual health.  Let us delve into some simple yet effective self-care practices adopted by a few CYS employees.

Our HRM Team interviewed two young CYS colleagues on this topic, one of them is 29-year-old J. X. Koo, who emphasizes the importance of breakfast and said having breakfast every morning is important.  A healthy breakfast kickstarts the digestive process for without food to digest, the stomach continues producing digestive juices, potentially causing harm.  J. X. prioritizes reaching the office early to ensure he has sufficient time for a healthy breakfast, proudly provided by our CYS Pantry Service team daily, giving him the necessary energy for the day ahead.

On the other hand, a 26-year-old colleague K. M. Lau, highlighted the significance of eye care.  Given the constant work with laptop and monitor screens, he is grateful that CYS office environment is well-lit.  K. M. recognizes that working under dim lighting can strain eyes and lead to fatigue.  To combat this, he takes regular screen breaks, using these intervals to stretch and perform simple eye exercises, allowing his eyes to rest and refocus.

By incorporating these straightforward self-care practices into our daily routines, we can nurture a healthy mind, body, and soul. It's essential to remember that self-care isn't selfish but rather crucial for overall well-being.  Prioritizing self-care equips us to navigate life's challenges with grace and resilience.
